May I respectfully suggest that you get in the spirit of this season for merriment and not spend time, like all too many these days, digging for traditions to criticize. Everyone enjoyed the “wish you a merry Christmas” lyric and got a kick out of the “bring us some figgy pudding” as payment for the performance. When I was a member of my high school glee club, it was our tradition at the end of our Christmas program for all the girls to march out the center aisle into the large hallway and sing this song for all in attendance - mostly families still seated. You had to dig really deep to find this old traditional song to complain about. ![]()
